Legacy Football Club

“Future Teams”

We at Legacy Football Club have both boys and girls teams within Great Basin Youth Soccer League’s (GBYSL) “Competitive” and “Recreational” leagues and also the AYSO recreational league.

If you are U10-U14 our yearly tryouts for our competitive teams are held in June/July and ALL players are welcomed to tryout. When dates are announced we will post them on the front page of our website and via our social media pages. There is also an option or those who do not belong to a GBYSL or AYSO registered competitive team to try out in November to be part of a competitive team for the spring season. This allows players from AYSO and GBYSL recreational to move into the competitive league by joining a Legacy FC team.

The Mission of our Legacy Football Club Academy is to “to produce skilled, confident and creative players in a serious fun environment”.

If you are U7-U9 Boy or Girl we offer THREE options:

1. Legacy Football Club GBYSL Recreational Teams: These teams will play in the GBYSL recreational league both in fall and spring. These teams will practice twice a week- Tuesdays and Thursdays 5:15pm-6:45pm at the Legacy FC training field. On Tuesday all Legacy FC rec league teams will practice in an academy style session together. These sessions will be directed by the Legacy FC Academy director, Vanessa Mann, and with the help of their parent coaches and other Legacy FC staff coaches. On Thursdays the rec teams will practice with their own team and parent coach. The parent coach will receive a copy of the training session that was run on Tuesday, where they heard all the coaching points to look for and able to take notes and then will turn around and run the same session on Thursday with just their team. The parent coach will also run the games that are played on Saturday.

2. Legacy Football Club AYSO Recreational Teams: These teams will play in the AYSO recreational league. The team will practice on Tuesdays at the Legacy FC training field in our academy style training session. This session will be directed by the Legacy FC Academy director, Vanessa Mann, and with the help of their parent coaches and other Legacy FC staff coaches. The parent coach will receive a copy of the training session that was run on Tuesday, where they heard all the coaching points to look for and able to take notes and ask questions of the Legacy FC staff. The parent coach will run the games that are played on Saturday and any other training session at their AYSO designated field.

3. Legacy Football Club Performance Academy: This is for those players who want to receive extra training in addition to what they receive with their own recreational team. This is for players who do NOT already belong to a Legacy FC recreational team. This session occurs on Tuesdays 5:15pm-6:45pm.

All training sessions are written by Vanessa Mann and are all age specific that are in accordance with the Coerver Coaching methodology, a method that focuses on Individual skills development and small group play. The structure of these sessions is such that 90% of the session is designed around a 1:1 ball to player ratio. In the first 15-20 minutes of every session players will touch the ball over 600+ times with the entire focus being on proper technical ball mastery.

The ultimate goal of the Legacy Football Club Academy is to:

·        Develop skilled, confident and creative players

·        Make the game fun to practice and play

·        Teach good sportsmanship and respect for all

·        Value winning but not more than character and performance

·        Provide a safe & educational experience that meets best practice criteria
